Color Confidence: The Best Paint Colors For a Timeless Design

Project: Westwood Country Club

Paneling: Sherwin Williams, Stamped Concrete SW 7655

In the world of interior design, selecting paint colors that stand the test of time is crucial for creating a space that has timeless appeal. When choosing hues that go beyond fleeting trends, you invest in a home that remains a sanctuary of style and comfort for years to come.

Our Best Paint Colors: White and Cream Family

Finding the right white or cream paint color for your trim, walls, or cabinetry can vary. Our go-to trim and cabinetry colors are typically the same. We love Sherwin Williams Pure White SW 7005, Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17, and Sherwin Williams Alabaster SW 7008 and have found our clients do as well. Sherwin Williams Pure White is going to be a truer bright white, and white dove and alabaster are creamier whites that coordinate best with warmer tones.

The rest of our favorite white paint colors range in cool and warm tones.  Our go-to off-white wall colors are Sherwin Williams Egret White SW 7570 and Benjamin Moore Classic Gray OC-23.

When selecting white or off-white paint colors, it is all about the undertone. How do you find the undertone? It is best to start with a large true white paint sample as a baseline to see the undertone of the new paint color you are comparing it to. An example of true white would be Sherwin Williams High Reflective White SW 7757. If you hold this color against other off white, such as Egret white, then you can then easily see the difference in undertones.

Our Best Paint Colors: Blue and Green Family

We love adding a pop of color to cabinetry, paneling, and molding when we can in our clients’ designs, and using the right shades of blue and green is just the way to do it! If you are looking for a true navy, then our favorite would have to be Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy HC-154. Greens are all the rage right now, and our favorite option for clients would be Benjamin Moore Intrigue 1580!
