Our Design and Furnishings Process: Bringing Your Vision to Life

At Ducy Design, we live to create that "wow" moment for our clients when they see their space transformed. To achieve this, we use a streamlined and personalized process that ensures the client’s vision comes to life seamlessly and beautifully. Here’s how we do it:

Step 1: Understanding the Vision

We begin by collecting a client’s wants, dreams, and wishes for the space. This includes a detailed questionnaire, reviewing inspiration images, taking inventory of existing pieces, and conducting a thorough walkthrough of the space. This step ensures we fully understand aesthetic preferences and functional needs.

Step 2: Developing the Floor Plan and Renderings

The next step is to confirm the desired layout. We create two different floor plan options and provide 3D renderings to support. These renderings are critical in helping clients visualize the space and feel confident in selecting a floor plan that makes the most sense.

Step 3: Budgeting and Vendor Selection

Once we confirm the floor plan and furniture sizes, we create a detailed budget itemizing all the pieces needed. With access to over 100+ vendors, we can make a range of selections catered to the budget, ensuring our team is being respectful of the client's desired furniture investment.

We can spend $2k on a good quality rug, or we can spend $25k on a hand-knotted heirloom piece. Our goal is to understand our client’s budget and aesthetics so we can curate solutions that are in line with their design expectations”, explains Kristen Hennie, Founder and Principal Designer for Ducy Design. “We firmly believe by investing in custom furniture along with our design packages, clients can achieve a personalized and high-quality living environment that will withstand the test of time.

Step 4: Curating Your Custom Furnishings Package

After the furnishings budget is approved, we pour hours into curating two different custom furnishings schemes for the client to choose from. Each scheme is based on client inspirations, goals, and personal style, which we’ve reviewed together at length.

Step 5: Procurement and Custom Orders

Once a design scheme is selected, we begin the procurement process. This involves creating custom work orders for upholstery, finishes and window treatments, collaborating with our workrooms, and obtaining pricing to provide comprehensive proposals. After all furniture pieces and design elements are approved, we place the orders and project manage the entire package until everything is received locally. The lead time on furnishing pieces can range from 6 weeks to 16 weeks. We ensure all pieces are shipped and received at our local white-glove receiving, storage, and delivery warehouse.

Step 6: Installation and the "Wow" Moment

Once all items are ready, we coordinate one large “wow” installation, setting up the space to perfection.

By handling the design and furnishings process together for our clients, we create a truly unique and timeless space that caters to any aesthetic, need, or budget. This integrated approach saves time, reduces stress, and ensures a holistic and stunning final result that exceeds expectations.
