Ducy Design’s 2024 Year in Review: Favorite Projects, Design Innovations, and Milestones

As 2024 draws to a close, we’re thrilled to share some of the year’s highlights at Ducy Design. From intricately designed spaces to innovative technology reshaping how we approach interior design, this year has been filled with memorable projects, one-of-a-kind installations, and special recognitions. Kristen Hennie, Founder and Principal Designer, has a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence that continues to drive our work forward. Here are some of the projects, design innovations, and achievements that made this year unforgettable.

Project Highlights: Showcasing Unique and Beautiful Spaces

This year brought several unique projects where every detail was curated with precision and luxury. Here are a few of our favorite projects that captured the spirit of Ducy Design’s approach to large-scale, high-end spaces.

Family Manor Project: A Shower Like No Other

This extraordinary shower space was a true showcase of craftsmanship, materials, and design vision. Constructed entirely from Carrara marble tile, every inch of this shower exudes elegance. Kristen designed intricate tile moldings to mimic the look of traditional wood molding, elevating the space with a nod to classic detailing. The barrel-vaulted ceiling further enhanced the sense of depth and luxury, transforming the shower into a refined sanctuary.

The Mid-Century Oasis Project: A Contemporary Lakefront Transformation

At Ducy Design, honoring a home’s architectural legacy while infusing modern elements is always a balancing act. In our Mid-Century Oasis project on the shores of Lake Erie, we did just that. We embraced the home’s iconic mid-century lines while revitalizing its interior with a fresh, lakeside ambiance. A standout element was the kitchen, designed to complement the existing architectural details with a modern yet warm aesthetic. Cabinets were meticulously arranged around the large windows, inviting natural light to flood the space.

This project required a full renovation and furniture selection process, and our contracting and cabinetry team truly nailed it. The result is seamless and cohesive, a true testament to the skill and dedication of our team. Every element was intentionally chosen to align with the home’s legacy while giving it a renewed vibrance.

The ceiling’s wood paneling was carefully integrated to reflect the mid-century style while adding an inviting, contemporary warmth. This project not only celebrated a cherished architectural era but also illustrated the power of intentional design in enhancing natural surroundings.

Embracing Innovative Technology and Products

In the ever-evolving world of design, staying ahead means incorporating the latest technologies and products that elevate our process and final result. This year, we explored new tools that enabled us to enhance client experiences and enrich our design work.

Canvas: Revolutionizing Design Measurements

In 2024, we embraced the power of technology to streamline our design process and elevate our client experience. The introduction of Canvas, a cutting-edge software, has revolutionized the way we work. We can collaborate seamlessly with clients across different states by digitally scanning rooms and generating accurate CAD files. This interior design trend has saved us countless hours and improved the overall efficiency of our projects.

“With Canvas, we’re able to digitally scan rooms from our phones, and our team can quickly work with CAD files to develop designs that match exact specifications,” Kristen explains.

Customizable Lighting: Blueprint Lighting and Worley’s Lighting

Customizable lighting options are another interior design trend we’ve incorporated into our projects this year. Our work with Blueprint Lighting allowed us to offer unique lighting fixtures with customizable enamel choices, shades, and brass or porcelain finishes. The Petit Magari Wall Lamp, featured in an upcoming project, is a prime example of the exquisite craftsmanship and design possibilities.

Worley’s Lighting has also been a key partner, offering pieces that combine wood tones with metal finishes to create striking visual effects. The flexibility these brands provide enables us to customize each fixture precisely to the project’s aesthetic needs, ensuring that each space is as unique as the client it was designed for.

Apparatus Studio: Elevating Interior Design

In 2024, Apparatus Studio became a key collaborator in creating bespoke, luxurious spaces for our clients. Known for their exquisite, handcrafted lighting and furniture, their ability to customize materials and finishes aligns seamlessly with our mission to deliver one-of-a-kind designs. Apparatus Studio’s timeless yet innovative pieces have been instrumental in elevating the sophistication and uniqueness of our projects

Ducy Design’s 2024 Achievements

Beyond our projects and products, 2024 marked some incredible achievements that underscore our commitment to excellence in design and community involvement.

Best of West Award

One of our proudest moments this year was receiving the Best of West award—a true milestone for our team. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without the support of our clients, partners, and friends who nominated us.

Growing Together with NAWBO

Joining the National Association for Women Business Owners (NAWBO) has been another highlight of 2024. The organization has provided a network of female business owners dedicated to sharing best practices, supporting each other’s growth, and inspiring one another. Being a part of NAWBO has enriched our approach to business and deepened our ties to other leaders in the design and business communities.
